Presidential Convoy Tragedy: Ghana Mourns Fallen Driver
Ghana, Africa-In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday morning, the Jubilee House of Ghana has expressed profound condolences to the family of Kwesi Arthur, the driver who tragically lost his life in an accident involving President Akufo-Addo’s convoy.
The crash occurred at Bunso while the convoy was returning from Kumasi, following a weekend of presidential engagements.
Kwesi Arthur, the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident has also left several members of the President’s close protection and police detail with varying injuries.
They initially received medical attention at Suhum Government Hospital before being transferred to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further treatment.
In a press release issued on May 19, Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at Jubilee House, extended heartfelt sympathies to Arthur’s family and wished the injured officers a quick recovery.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured officers,” the statement read.
The incident reportedly involved a collision with a KIA Rhino truck, which allegedly crossed the convoy’s path, causing the fatal crash. Footage circulating on social media shows the extensively damaged Land Cruiser and emergency personnel attending to the scene.
Jubilee House has assured the public that they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
