Housewife Arrested for Stabbing Husband to Death in Mukono
Mukono Uganda-In a chilling and meticulously planned crime, authorities have arrested 30-year-old Musimenta Ruth for the murder of her husband, Nsubuga James, in their home located in Katikamu village, Mpoma Parish, Nama sub-county, Mukono district.
The arrest, resulting from a coordinated operation by the Crime Intelligence Unit in liaison with Mukono Central Police Station (CPS), has left the local community in shock.
The tragic incident occurred during the night of May 17th-18th, 2024, when Ruth allegedly stabbed her husband in the neck while he was asleep. The attack proved fatal, and Nsubuga James succumbed to his injuries almost immediately. In a grim twist, Ruth kept her husband’s body concealed in their bedroom for two days until police intervention on May 19th led to its discovery.
Law enforcement officials were tipped off by intelligence reports suggesting that Ruth was planning to dispose of her husband’s body in a shallow grave near their toilet. Acting swiftly, the CI task team moved in and arrested her.
During the search of the premises, the murder weapon, a knife, was found hidden in the bedroom. Additionally, two army shoes and a toy pistol belonging to the deceased were recovered from the house, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the crime scene.
Upon interrogation, Musimenta Ruth admitted to the premeditated murder of her husband. She revealed that she had hidden the knife in the bedroom in anticipation of the act. According to sources close to the investigation, the couple had a history of domestic abuse, which likely played a significant role in the tragic outcome.
The local community is grappling with the reality of the violence that unfolded in their midst. “It’s incredibly disturbing to learn that something so horrific happened right next door,” said a neighbor. “You never truly know what struggles people are facing behind closed doors.”
Authorities have condemned the act of violence and brutality within domestic settings, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and intervention in abusive relationships.
“This tragic incident underscores the devastating consequences of domestic violence,” said a spokesperson, Fred Enanga.
“We must continue to work together to prevent such tragedies,” Enanga added.
Musimenta Ruth is currently being processed on murder charges and remains in police custody. A preliminary hearing is expected to take place soon, where more details about the case and the couple’s relationship may come to light.
The police have praised the swift and effective actions of the CI task team and Mukono CPS, whose efforts ensured that the suspect was apprehended before she could dispose of the body.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to understand the full context of the crime and prevent future incidents of domestic violence.
