A heartbreaking discovery has shaken the community of Kalempang village in South Sulawesi province, Indonesia, as the body of a missing mother of four was found inside the stomach of a 16-foot-long python.
Farida, a 50-year-old woman, went missing on Thursday, June 6, while walking through woodland to sell food at a local market near her home. Concerned family members and villagers launched a search effort, which tragically ended with the gruesome discovery.
Farida’s husband, Noni, became suspicious when he found her belongings abandoned. This led villagers to search the area, where they spotted a python with a noticeably distended belly. Upon agreement, they decided to cut open the snake, revealing Farida’s fully clothed body inside.
Graphic images captured the gut-wrenching moment as Farida’s body was retrieved from the python’s stomach. Her remains were then taken for burial in the Pitu Riawa district of Sidrap Regency.
Noni expressed profound remorse, stating, “I am forever sorry that I let wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her.”
While reports of humans being killed by pythons are rare in Indonesia, this incident marks the fifth such occurrence since 2017. The tragedy has reignited discussions about wildlife safety and human-animal interactions in the region.
