Form 4 Student Allegedly Kills His Mother
Grief and sorrow have enveloped Kitare village in Homa Bay County following the tragic death of 38-year-old Nelis Ogutu. A Form Four student, now detained at Mbita Police Station, is suspected of committing the crime.
Police in Mbita are holding a 16-year-old student from Nyatoto Mixed Secondary School in connection with the death of his mother. Preliminary investigations indicate that the teenager used a machete in the fatal attack.
Assistant Chief Moses Sirawa of Kayanja Sub Location confirmed the incident, stating that the student arrived home in the evening. After the evening meal, he allegedly strangled his mother before attacking her with a machete.
Community members, alarmed by the commotion from the widow’s house, rushed to the scene. They apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the police. Authorities believe that mental health issues may have played a role in the boy’s actions.
The body of Nelis Ogutu has been taken to Kirindo mortuary as police continue their investigation into the gruesome incident.
